Rev. Darrell F. Johnson
I am the Rev. Darrell F. Johnson, and I am excited, humbled, and filled with hope to join you in shared ministry as the new part-time pastor of Sharon. I may not be as young as I once was, but I still have plenty of gas left in the tank and am eager for what God has in store for us.
My roots and education are all close to home. I graduated from Indian Valley North High School, Muskingum College—now Muskingum University—and Moravian Theological Seminary, now the Moravian School of Theology, where I earned my Master of Divinity degree. All three milestones took place during the 1980s.
For the past 40 years, I have been blessed to share life with my wife, the Rev. Christine Sobania Johnson, who prefers to be called “Chris.” We have two grown sons. Dan is a zookeeper and lives in North Carolina. Andrew lives in Dennison with our daughter-in-law, Ashley, and their children, Jordan and Gracelyn.
One passage of Scripture that especially guides and inspires me is Romans 12:4-5:
“For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.”
That truth has shaped the way I approach ministry. I have always valued collaboration, teamwork, and the gifts that each person brings to the life of the church. I gladly accept this part-time call as part of “Team Jesus” here at Sharon.
While this is a part-time call, I am all-in as Christ leads me to serve. I enjoy music and singing, exercise, laughter and humor, sports, and reading. I strive to be an intentional listener and am deeply committed to dialogue, relationship building, and meaningful conversation.
I enthusiastically look forward to getting to know each of you, sharing in ministry together, and building relationships as we live into the truth that, in Christ, we belong to one another.

Family
Married for 40 years to the Rev. Christine Sobania Johnson (“Chris”). They have two grown sons: Dan, a zookeeper in North Carolina, and Andrew, who lives in Dennison with his wife, Ashley, and their children, Jordan and Gracelyn.
Education
Darrell graduated from Indian Valley North High School and went on to attend Muskingum University. He later earned his Master of Divinity degree from Moravian Theological Seminary, now the Moravian School of Theology. He completed all three stages of his education during the 1980s.
Ministry
A collaborator and team player, Darrell gladly embraces his part-time call as a member of “Team Jesus.” He strives to listen well, values open dialogue, and is committed to building meaningful relationships rooted in the belief that, in Christ, we belong to one another.
Interests
Darrell enjoys music and singing, exercise, sports, reading, and plenty of laughter and humor. He looks forward to getting to know everyone, sharing meaningful conversations, and building lasting relationships as Christ leads him in service.
